Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic acupuncture combines fine Chinese needles that significantly improve blood flow, release blockages and inflammation, firm the skin, and address a range of skin concerns.

What is cosmetic acupuncture?

You need not go under the surgeon's knife or inject Botox to fight wrinkles. Cosmetic acupuncture works to firm and smooth the skin. Aesthetically, it is used to treat acne in younger women, and extends to scarring, dark circles beneath the eyes, spots, wrinkles and fine lines, lax skin, drooping eyelids, pallid skin and more. It is also recommended for skin firming.

Behind aesthetic acupuncture lies a holistic understanding of the body. In Chinese medicine, for example, dark circles are linked to the kidneys - and as acupuncture supports kidney function, the dark circles improve. The needling promotes healthy blood flow and releases blockages.

How does the treatment actually work?

We use a Chinese technique working on body points that support circulation, combined with massage and touch techniques, silicone cupping, and warmed botanical extracts infused into the face.

This is the essence of the treatment: the raw material is within the client, not an external substance. Our blood is rich in oxygen, and when it is drawn to the face it drives heightened production of collagen and elastin. Acupuncture supports the organs responsible for skin quality and the drainage of toxins from the skin, and significantly improves pigmentation.

How many sessions until results show?

A series of ten treatments shows significant improvement in the skin's appearance. After six months, a monthly session is recommended to maintain the results.

And for more advanced skin laxity?

The condition can be improved, though the skin cannot be returned to age 20. Clients see meaningful improvement in the skin's appearance, its firmness and their overall sense of wellbeing. The treatment is also very supportive in cases of skin conditions such as psoriasis and seborrhoea.
